The Lisbon Military Museum presents a vast collection of weaponry, war equipment and art that is unique in Portugal and well worth visiting. Its military collection includes rare pieces that stand out for their artistic craftsmanship. The museum's artillery collection is considered one of the most complete in the world.
Visitors can admire paintings by some of the most renowned artists of the Portuguese school such as Carlos Reis, Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, José Malhoa, Sousa Lopes, Veloso Salgado and Condeixa, among others. It also features important names in Portuguese tile art including Manuel Gustavo Bordalo Pinheiro and Leopoldo Batistini.
The Hall of Plaster Casts also deserves special mention. It gathers molds used for statues of significant Portuguese figures, with the mold of King José I's statue located in Praça do Comércio as its central piece.
