Lisbon Cathedral, better known as Sé de Lisboa, is the oldest and most important church in the city. The Cathedral was constructed in the twelfth century and its style is predominantly Romanesque. Its official name is Santa Maria Maior.
It has survived several natural disasters which left part of the religious structure in ruins. The Cathedral has been renovated and rebuilt on various occasions.
Inside the monastery, there are several Roman, Arabic and Medieval remains. The treasury is made up of four halls with suits, jewels and other remnants from various periods.
