Inaugurated in November 2017, the iconic state-of-the-art terminal was designed by renowned Portuguese architect, João Luís Carrilho da Graça and a key consideration of its design was sustainability and ensuring the smooth onward flow of tourists on their visit to the city. The terminal covers around 13,800 m2 over three floors, provides about 1,500 meters of pier to cater for a wide variety and size of ships, also houses the offices of the competent authorities, tourist services, shops, check in facilities and catering services for the comfort of all visitors, passengers and crew. It features two fully automated gangway systems, on-site heavy equipment to support ship operations, and can provide water supplies and other provisions while in dock.
Lisbon Cruise Port terminal has a privileged and centralocation in the context of the city, allowing easy access to places of major tourist and of cultural interest as well as great accessibility to and from the Lisbon international airport.
The Santa Apolónia Passenger Terminal is a crucial piece of infrastructure within the Lisbon Cruise Port, operating as a secondary support and complementary terminal to the main Lisbon Cruise Port.
This terminal, managed by Lisbon Cruise Port (LCP), is vital for increasing the city’s capacity to receive vessels, allowing for the docking of additional ships, especially during peak periods. Its facilities comply with all safety standards (ISPS) and are equipped to efficiently manage embarkation, disembarkation, and transit operations for passengers.
This unique location creates a perfect Transport Interface. It allows cruise passengers immediate and easy access to trains (national and international), the Metro (Blue Line), and the bus network. In this way, the Santa Apolónia Terminal ensures a fluid and efficient arrival experience for all visitors to the Portuguese capital.
